Cigales, Castilla y León, Spain
On the nose, lifted aromas of red cherry, wildflowers and orange peel mingle with earthier notes of wood smoke and spice. The palate is full-bodied with a juicy core of red berry fruit, structured by fine tannins and revitalising acidity. The finish is long and complex.
Significant amounts of rain at the end of winter delayed flowering by almost a month, allowing the vines to avoid the threat of spring frosts. Late spring was characterised by sunny days, fresh temperatures and short bursts of rain; all aiding healthy fruit set and grape development. Summer temperatures were relatively mild, resulting in perfectly placed slow ripening and balanced, aromatic fruit profiles in the finished wines.
