Medium straw yellow in colour, the 2019 vintage is supple and elegant, reflective of the cooler vintage. The bouquet has aromas of white peach, cashew and fresh brioche. The palate is balanced between the vibrant stone fruit profile and more savoury notes of nougat, buttered toast and biscuits from the time on lees. The backbone of acidity is complemented by a depth and complexity from the barrel fermentation.
After a very dry previous vintage, timely rains during late winter and early March ensured enough soil moisture content for the advancement of the vine health. Low temperatures in November produced a poor fruit set and therefore a significant reduction in this vintage's yield. These conditions continued through the summer months with cool nights and mild days, resulting in a significant delay to the start of vintage. The steady ripening allowed the fruit to be harvested with good natural acidity.
