The name Calvarino comes from ‘little calvary’, because of the difficulty of working the basalt soil and because of the tortuous path to reach the bottom.
Calvarino, an iconic wine since 1971, the first single vineyard from white grapes in Italy, represents the most long-lived and authentic expression of Soave wine.

The `Calvarino` is pale straw yellow in colour with youthful hues. On the nose are lifted aromas of lemon, cherry and elderflower. The palate is dry, beautifully balanced and elegant, with tremendous finesse and a persistent finish.
The 2023 vintage was particularly turbulent and strange, a year 'with two faces'.
The first summer months, May-June, were rainy leading to a risk of post-flowering powdery mildew, but in our area there is a different viticultural preparation in disease management. By working prevention, respecting organic dictates, as opposed to the conventional/traditional regime, we are always covered and we also get a positive outcome even in difficult years. In fact, in 2023, no more than 5 percent of the product was lost (5 percent lost due to downy mildew).
It was a difficult and not good year until August, but September and October were very good. Significant work was done by thinning the bunches partially attacked by downy mildew and powdery mildew, in this way we got healthy grapes and lightened the plant, an effective practice having had a very abundant year anyway. In October there was a great improvement that resulted in a satisfactory harvest and an overall good vintage, with fresh and savory wines that were more fragrant and long-lived than in 2022.
